On Friday the 6th March we filled the car and headed to Glasgow. The SEC to be specific. To trade at Power Con to be more specific. We’ve done the drive plenty of times and even more so since our daughter moved to Glasgow, just over the red bridge so we saw her on the Saturday and Sunday, which was great.
After spending a couple of hours setting up our tables, 2 at the front and 2 backing tables we were ready to go home. Now let’s be clear, that doesn’t mean we were ready to trade on Saturday morning, we were just ready for home 😂
On Saturday morning we put one more suitcase, full of ghost jars and frames, in the car because it wouldn’t fit on the Friday, and headed back up to the SEC, giving ourselves enough time to put more stock on the table. I had a cup of tea and some porridge in the car so by the time we got there I was ready for the busy day ahead of us. The tables looked nice and full, full of colour and stock, some new stuff and some older stuff. After some last minute rearranging we had no other choice but to be ready as folk starting filling through the doors. There’s always such a wide variety of attendees at a comic con, life long fans, parents with their kids, cosplayers and folk just wanting to see what all the fuss is about. But no matter what category you fall in you’ll have a good day out.
I was blessed not once but twice by having 2 pals walk up to the table and say hi, after 2 initial shocks it was so good to catch up. Kenny was an old colleague from my video shop days and then Mary Ann walked up with her family. Joy. Pure joy.
The event itself is really well organised and was a sell out on the Saturday so was well attended. I think everyone that I spoke to now knows my every ailment to my favourite milkshake flavour, vanilla obviously. Sunday had a bit of a slower start but that’s to be expected. So any quiet times I was talking with my table neighbours, a lot, I spoke a lot. I think it’s my favourite thing to do.
On an awesome note, something from every line of products was sold. I have added a new ghost jar size, greeting cards, new candle fragrances and some new jewellery too. And I will probably be adding more new stock soon too.
So watch this space as I’m about to fill it with new designs, new stock and new newness 😏
